I have had a varied and progressive career so far! After gaining my BA (Hons) in Hotel and Catering Administration, I naturally migrated to the world of Insurance Broking.
Starting out as an Account Handler/Executive in my home of Cumbria, I moved to London and worked in similar roles for Tysers and then Miller. I carried out various roles in Miller, progressing to Operations Manager and then taking a sideways move to Product Owner in the IT unit. I stepped away from Miller for a short period to work as a Household Underwriter for Hiscox. This provided me with the experience of working for both a Broker and an Insurer, gaining valuable insights into both worlds. After nearly 30 years in Insurance Broking, I moved to Guidewire Software as a Customer Success Manager. I have been here for 18 months now and am proud to use my knowledge of the Insurance Broking world, specifically London Market Broking. It’s almost a full circle moment for me as I have also returned to my hospitality roots, ensuring our customers are well taken care of and looked after. I’m actually wondering if I might be better for a “Rising From The Ashes” award! – I took a leap of faith at the age of 54 to change career after feeling I was stagnating. I am now thriving and never been happier. I am both simultaneously learning and imparting knowledge / experience every day – it is extremely energising!
