Sam Newman | Director, Light The Spark Limited

Sam started her career in sales roles in the world of FMCG with Procter & Gamble, Mars Confectionery and Pepsico, then moved into publishing as Sales Director of BBC Audiobooks.  

She followed the traditional route of “falling into insurance”, moving to Hiscox where she stayed for 10 years, with roles including Product Head, Regional Manager, and finally Head of Broker Marketing.  During her time there, she mentored a number of women, and spent 3 years as Executive Sponsor of the “Women at Hiscox” network.  In 2021 Sam left Hiscox to set up her consultancy Light The Spark – helping businesses in the insurance world sell more stuff to more people and businesses!  In her spare time, she is a Parish Councillor, Enterprise Advisor for The Marlborough School, Woodstock, and a Home Visitor for Sunshine Cat Rescue.  She also travels extensively with her partner, and is a committed follower of the prog band Marillion.
