I am a registered Occupational Therapist.
I have extensive clinical, operational and strategic experience in physical and mental health services, particularly in forensic settings. I am skilled in providing constructive challenges and engaging patients to drive quality improvement.
In 2021 whilst homeschooling and holding down two part time jobs, I completed my MBA (senior leader apprenticeship) specialising in strategic and transformational changes. Two key projects I have completed during the MBA: 1) implementation of Accessible Information Standard (AIS), improving compliance level from 0.03% to 13.5% within 6 months Trust wide; 2) implementation of a new strategy regarding ward jobs in a high secure hospital, narrowing the disparities for patients with different mental health status.
I am currently the Chair of the Race Equality Network at an integrated Trust. I lead and bring impartiality and objectivity to meetings, driving the EDI ambitions and changing them into actions.
I regularly speak at regional/national conferences. I am a guest lecturer at an University delivering lectures on mental health and leadership. I am about to start serving my third term of office as a public governor at a local foundation Trust. I applied for the role after having difficult in accessing mental health service as a lived experience individual. I now work as a ‘critical friend’ to the Trust supporting them to make meaningful changes to the public.
Being an individual with a BAME background, I am passionate about making a positive difference and representation to the lives of our BAME people.
