I joined the Hiscox Graduate Scheme in September 2014 in the London Professions and Commercial team. I am now a Development Underwriter, writing a variety of UK retail business, predominantly professional indemnity, cyber and commercial combined insurance. Last year, I wrote one of Hiscox UK’s largest-ever single risks. To win this, I insisted on visiting the client in person, involved Hiscox senior management and provided prompt solutions to the numerous issues raised. I also identified, developed and secured a number of professions schemes and was delighted to be nominated for Hiscox Underwriter of the Year in March 2017.
Born in 1992, I grew up in London. At school, I excelled at sport and became very well-organised juggling this with my academic work, busy social life and Head Girl in my final year. I played lacrosse for England in the 2011 Under 19 World Cup and captained my school and university teams. I won a Sports Scholarship to the University of Bristol, where I gained a BSc (Hons) in Geography before saving up and travelling with friends in Australasia and South America.
The Hiscox Graduate Scheme included secondments that gave me exposure to other areas of the business including claims and investments. Last summer, I spent three months in the Hiscox Technology and Cyber team in San Francisco, the global hub for this cutting-edge business. Starting from scratch, with no broker contacts or experience of the specialist products, I was happy with my contribution. Back in London, as the youngest member of the ‘Women at Hiscox’ working group, I want to help contemporaries at every level to fulfil their potential. I enjoy developing strong professional relationships with my brokers and seeing their accounts grow. I have recently finished my ACII exams, still enjoy playing lacrosse and netball, cooking and travelling, work in a highly motivated and successful team and company and am excited about the future.
