For almost 10 years, I had worked for a Law firm in Dorset, beginning her journey with them as an Office Junior, working her way up to Office Manager and doing everything in between.

After an opportunity arose in Birmingham, I began working for a co-working space in the city centre, managing the front of house, keeping members happy and promoting the space using social media and other digital means. This opened my eyes to a a whole new way of working.

On returning to Dorset, I decided she wanted more. After seeing a gap in the Dorset market for small business support, I wanted to bring a bit of the city to the country and introduce the world of Virtual to the community, so decided to launch as a Virtual Assistant. After only 6 months I was at full capacity and couldn’t take on any more clients.

In January 2019 I took the decision to launch a Licence (similar to a franchise) to help other individuals who wanted to set out as a self-employed Virtual Assistant do just that using The Contemporary PA branding, and the tried and tested model that I used to grow my business. I am proud to say we are now a national brand with 8 licensees in Dorset, Hampshire and Newcastle.

Also, big believers in small businesses and how important they are for our communities, The Contemporary PA launched a networking event #TakeoverTuesday in Dorchester where start-ups and freelancers can work alongside each other one day a month and learn from one another, as let’s face it, being a solo-preneur can be lonely at times.

The Contemporary PA supports small businesses and start-ups with administration and digital tasks, allowing them to spend their time on growing their businesses. Our ad-hoc and flexible approach makes us truly accessible for businesses at all stages throughout a business’s life.

Since launching in 2017, The Contemporary PA have assisted with businesses of all shapes and sizes from sole traders to established companies, and even have some well-known celebrities on our books.
