Tracy Smith

Tracy is a qualified horticulturist, holding a BSc. (HONS) in Horticulture from the University of Strathclyde and West of Scotland Agricultural College, Auchincruive (now SRUC Auchincruive).

She has been working as a Landscape Consultant for Amey, a leading infrastructure services and engineering company, for nearly 15 years where she previously led the UK Landscape Team and was Technical Lead for Landscape, designing and managing major landscape contracts. Having recently moved to Transport Infrastructure she is involved in design, management and maintenance of half of Scotland’s Trunk Road Network landscape.

As well as being a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute she continues to increase her knowledge and has achieved Professional Membership with the Arboricultural Association and also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture and the Women’s Leader Association.

Tracy has had a varied career from working and studying horticulture at SRUC and as landscape design officer with South Ayrshire Council. She has also worked in environmental and outdoor education, working alongside The Prince’s Trust and Duke of Edinburgh Award participants, supporting young people within Ayrshire in raising their knowledge, skills and self-confidence.

She is committed and passionate about developing and supporting others in work and within her community and has qualified in First Aid, Mental Health Aid and is a Wellbeing Ambassador and Life Coach. She is particularly interested in biodiversity, sustainability and innovation, having co-authored research with the University of Leeds and collaborating with other universities researching landscape management and maintenance processes to increase biodiversity and sustainability.
